The therapy center at Maienplatz is committed not only therapeutically to the well-being of its young and adult patients but also supports vital projects beyond its own practice rooms. Recently, we became proud sponsors of the baby emergency ambulance “Felix,” a special vehicle from the Björn Steiger Foundation that safely transports premature infants.
Why a special baby emergency ambulance?
Each year, around 640 premature infants need to be transferred in Germany—often in regular emergency vehicles that are not equipped for this sensitive task. Vibrations, lack of suspension, and unfavorable driving directions can pose serious risks to these tiny patients.
That’s why the Björn Steiger Foundation developed the “Felix” transport concept: a specially modified baby emergency ambulance that allows lateral transport of premature infants—significantly reducing risks during braking maneuvers or uneven rides.
Medically necessary but not legally secured
Despite its life-saving role, “Felix” is not yet included in emergency service laws and is not funded by health insurance providers. The Björn Steiger Foundation covers the costs, supported by donations and sponsorships like ours. Ongoing expenses such as insurance and fuel are also only covered through this support.
Our motivation
We believe that medical care must begin where it is needed most—even in emergency transport of the tiniest patients. Therefore, we support “Felix” not only through sponsorship but also by raising awareness for this important project.
